Veteran Producer Nick Hall Seals Producing Pact With VICE Studios

By RockWater Media· November 4, 2026· 👁 3

Nick Hall, the seasoned producer and television executive behind projects such as The White Lotus and this year’s Bret Easton Ellis adaptation The Shards, has struck a producing deal with VICE Studios. The pact adds a well connected creative to the studio’s growing bench at a moment when VICE is courting marquee storytellers to widen its pipeline.

Hall’s arrival carries the imprint of a career built inside blue chip shops. He helped steer comedy development at HBO before moving to Amazon Studios to lead comedy, and later joined indie powerhouse A24 to help shape its expanding television slate. That mix of network discipline, streamer scale and indie verve is the sort of range VICE Studios has been recruiting under President Amy Powell. “What drew me to VICE Studios is the opportunity to champion stories that cut through the noise,” Powell said when she took the helm, outlining a mandate to pair bold ideas with pragmatic financing.

The studio has spent the past year retooling for reach and resilience. It tapped ITV Studios as its exclusive global distribution partner, aligning future titles with a heavyweight seller across broadcast, streaming and FAST channels. It also secured a 75 million dollar credit facility to accelerate development and production, a signal from VICE leadership that the shop intends to originate and control more IP. Recent and upcoming titles underline that intent, from the Sky hit Gangs of London and thriller Atomic to the adaptation of Starbreeze’s PAYDAY, for which Powell said the franchise’s world is “bigger than the game itself.”

What Hall brings into that framework is a network of creators and a track record with premium series packaging. His tenure spans Miramax, Paramount and Scott Free affiliated banners, plus executive roles at 6th and Idaho and Khalabo Ink Society, experiences that tend to translate into nimble dealmaking in a tougher, post strike marketplace. While terms of his VICE Studios pact were not disclosed, the deal fits a broader strategy that prioritises culturally pointed genres such as crime, music, sports and counter culture, backed by international distribution muscle and more flexible financing. For VICE, it is another brick in a rebuilding project that seeks to marry edgy taste with steadier execution. For Hall, it restores a platform for championing distinctive voices with a studio hungry to scale.

Eyes now turn to the slate. Expect Hall to incubate auteur driven series and limited dramas that can travel, to tap into ITV Studios’ sales network, and to ride the studio’s renewed appetite for franchise adjacent ideas. That is where a producer’s Rolodex meets a distributor’s footprint, and where VICE is betting the next wave of its comeback will be written.
