Juno Films Secures North American Rights to The Extraordinary Miss Flower

Juno Films has acquired North American distribution rights to The Extraordinary Miss Flower, a hybrid performance film that blends live music, dramatized scenes and readings of long lost love letters.

The film was directed by British duo Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard and centres on Geraldine Flower, whose posthumously discovered suitcase of letters inspired Icelandic singer Emilíana Torrini to create a song cycle that now forms the film’s backbone. The production combines specially staged performances by Torrini and her band with dramatic sequences and voice readings by a roster of contributors.

The Extraordinary Miss Flower premiered on the festival circuit, including a showing at the BFI London Film Festival, and secured UK and Ireland distribution earlier in its run. The UK release made room for Q and A sessions and live appearances that emphasise the project’s theatre roots. The film’s festival appearances and subsequent bookings helped build momentum that paved the way for a North American home under Juno Films.

Contributors to the project include familiar names from the worlds of music and film. Performers and readers involved in the production include Caroline Catz and Nick Cave among others, adding a cross disciplinary cast to the film’s textured presentation. Early reviews describe the picture as a stylish, nostalgic and experimental piece that leans on in camera effects and archival material to create a dreamlike mood. The title runs about 73 minutes in its festival program.

Juno Films has made a habit of acquiring festival titles and positioning them for limited theatrical runs and wider digital windows. The distributor’s recent slate shows a consistent focus on music and documentary adjacent works, which suggests a planned campaign that could include select theatrical dates, festival bookings and a VOD rollout across the U.S. and Canada.

Roundup opinion

The acquisition gives North American audiences access to a project that sits between concert film and cinematic essay. Given the film’s musical core and festival pedigree, expect a platform release that leans on live events and curated screenings. For viewers interested in music led cinema and experimental biography work, The Extraordinary Miss Flower now has a clear path to screens in the United States and Canada.
